Chocolate No-Bake Energy Balls

If you’re looking for a super easy to make, healthy sweet treat, then these Chocolate No-Bake Energy Balls are the answer!  Taste like a No Bake cookie without the guilt!

Chocolate No-Bake Energy Balls

These Chocolate no-bake energy balls are one of my favorite sweet treats to have around the house.  When you’re trying to eat clean but still have those occasional chocolate cravings, it’ nice to have something handy to grab without the guilt.

I’m going to be honest, I’ve been making these Chocolate No-bake energy balls for over a year now and I probably make them different every time, based on what I have at my house.  And that’s the nice thing about them, since they are no-bake, they are easy and you can make them your own by adding different things like, cranberries, raisins, nuts, etc.  I will tell you that I do add chocolate Shakeology to mine because, well I love Shakeology and because it gives it that extra chocolate plus all the extra heath benefits of Shakeology.  But you can do it without or you could substitute Unsweetened Cocoa powder.

Another thing I love about these little balls of deliciousness, is that my kids love them too! SCORE!!  With only clean ingredients, I can feel good about letting them indulge.  Except for when I want them all to myself!  😉

Chocolate No-Bake ingredients

Go home and make you a batch today, store them in an air tight container and if you don’t want to share, be sure to hide them (maybe in the veggie drawer).  😉

  • 1 Cup dry rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup toasted unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter (no added sugars or salt)
  • 1/4 cup ground flax seed
  • !/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup honey or agave
  • 1 Scoop of chocolate Shakeology
  • 2 TBSP coconut oil (melted)

Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed (I use my hands, it’s much easier).  Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour.

Once chilled, rolled into balls of whatever size you like.  Store in airtight container and keep refrigerated.

Tammy’s Top Tips For a Happy, Healthy Life

Tammy’s Top Tips for a Happy, Healthy Life

I really want to start a weekly blog consisting of my top tips for a happy, successful and  healthy life. Let’s see if I can follow through!  You will hold me accountable, right?

It’s not that I consider myself an expert by any means but I have made changes in my daily routine, mind set, nutrition, fitness, etc that I have seen great results from in all areas of my life.  And I would love to share some of that insight with others because I think that everyone has the potential for a successful life.  When I say successful, I don’t necessarily mean financially.  What I do mean is, in all areas of life; marriage, happiness, family, fun, future, finances, health, fitness.

It is my belief and I have seen these changes take place just by making little adjustments in things you do every day.  I have turned my days from stress and worry into a happy, healthy life.  The first thing that I’m going to recommend is that if you haven’t yet, go out and purchase or download the book “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy!  That is the first step to changing your life!

Here are this weeks Top Ten Tips from Tammy:

How to Live a Happy, Healthy Life:

  1.  Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning and before every meal.

When you sleep, your body is deprived of water for a long period of time so the first thing you should do when you wake up is drink about 20 ounces of water to rehydrate your body.  Drinking water before meals helps give you the illusion that you are full so you will eat the appropriate portions of food versus overeating.  And of course, drinking water throughout the day will help keep you hydrated, which will give you more energy, keep cravings at bay, give you clear skin, help with digestion, etc, etc.

2. Eat 4-5 small meals a day.

I eat 5 small meals every day.  Doing this helps to keep you from getting so hungry that you over eat and choose the wrong foods. You never want to get to the point where you are starving because we all know what happens then.  🙂  Also, small healthy meals take less energy to digest which means more energy for you.

3. Eat a protein at every meal.

Protein helps give you more energy, build muscle, helps with brain function, digestion and balancing hormones which will make us much happier people to be around.  😉  Because protein can also make us feel full, it can help with weight loss.

4. Get rid of refined flours and grains

Refined flours and grains include white rice, white bread, white pasta and other foods that have been made with white flour,  These foods can actually cause food cravings and even spike blood sugar levels.  They are missing fiber and other nutritional ingredients that you would get in whole grains. Always go for the whole grains!

5. No more artificial flavors and sweeteners.

Well, the word artificial itself tells you something.  They were made in a chemical lab!  Foods or drinks with artificial flavors or sweeteners can have a negative affect on your body.  It can cause high blood sugar levels, headaches and stomach issues to name a few.  Your body also takes a lot longer to breakdown the foods that contain this, which could slow down your metabolism.  If you have had trouble losing weight and are drinking diet sodas, spenda in your coffee or anything else artificial, try cutting those out and see what happens.

6. Start every morning with positive thoughts and affirmations.

This is a life changer.  The way you start your morning sets the mood for the entire day.  If you are rushed, in a hurry, stressed, etc. you are likely to stay that way all day.  Wake up a few minutes earlier, meditate, pray or repeat positive affirmations and your entire day will change!  Trust me!!

7. End every day with positive thoughts and affirmations.

When you go to bed stressed, you do not sleep as well which in turn affects you the following day.  End your day, the same way you start you day, with positive thought, meditation, affirmations etc.

8. Exercise daily.

Exercise does so much for our body outside of weight loss and appearances.  I feel so much better when I exercise every day!  It gives me more energy, the endorphins help eliminate stress, it makes me think clearer and I feel good about myself.  You will be stronger which will help with every day duties.  Do NOT skip this step!

9. Set goals

Every one needs to have goals in life, whether its career, financial, family, marriage, etc., it is a must.  But don’t just set goals, write them down and look at them everyday so that you are constantly reminded of what it is that you want to accomplish.  And bonus points for sharing them with someone else to help keep you accountable.

10. Be grateful.

No matter what is happening or has happened in your life, you can ALWAYS find something to be grateful for.  Finding things that you are grateful for, reminds you that things aren’t so bad.  Some one always has it worse than you.  Wake up with a grateful mind and heart and go to bed each not with a grateful attitude.  LIFE CHANGING!

My hope is that you put one if not all of these into daily practice so that you can be on your way to a happy, healthy life.  They may seem like little things but its the little things that eventually add up to something bigger.  SERIOUSLY, go read “The Compound Effect!”

Who doesn’t love ice cream??

My all time favorite food to eat during the summer is ice cream!!  Who am I kidding, it’s my favorite all year long but I find myself craving it even more in the summer!  And it’s not just me, all of my kids are ice cream addicts.  My youngest just learned to “sign” ice cream so now she asks for it all of the time.  So, when I saw this recipe for Chunky Monkey Ice cream in Autumn Calabrese’s cook book, FIXATE, I had to try it!

There is nothing better than sitting outside on a scorching hot day, having a scoop of your favorite ice cream.  When I was a kid, we couldn’t wait to hear the sound of the ice cream truck coming in the neighborhood.  All of the kids in the neighborhood would take off running to their houses to ask their mom for money for the ice cream man.  My favorite was always the drumsticks!  But I would take any of it!  The ice cream truck doesn’t come around in our neighborhood anymore (which is not a bad thing, lol) but we find a way to have a sweet treat any way.  We occasionally walk up to our local ice cream shop to get a scoop.  I always figure if I walk there and back and can feel a little less guilty about having that scoop.

But now, I can have the deliciousness of ice cream right here at home WITHOUT the GUILT!  I mean, seriously, who doesn’t love Chunky Monkey Ice Cream.  You’ve got your CHOCOLATE, which is a must have for me!  You’ve got your peanut butter and banana!  Can’t go wrong with that!

Alright, I guess  I will share it with you, since you asked so nicely.  🙂  This recipe is straight out of Autumn Calabrese’s 21 Day Fix approved recipe book, FIXATE!  You can order the book here, if interested…

Can you really make money as a Beachbody coach???

I hear so many people say that Network marketing is a scam, a pyramid scheme, not a real job.  In fact, some of these comments had me doubting what I was doing when I first joined.  So, I wanted to answer, is this legit?  And can you really make money as a Beachbody coach??

Is this thing legit??

When I signed up to become a Beachbody coach, I actually had no idea what Network Marketing was.  I didn’t even realize that being a coach meant that I was now involved in Network Marketing.  I also had no idea what a Pyramid Scheme was, though I kept getting snide remarks from people about how I was getting involved in one.  Apparently those people also did not know what a Pyramid scheme is.  Google it!! I did my own research, learned that being a Beachbody coach is definitely NOT in any way a Pyramid Scheme, figured out what Network Marketing is all about and saw real life proof of what it could do to change my life for the better.

I think that the idea of Network Marketing in general, has gotten a bad rap, mostly from people who were not able to be successful with their company of choice.  What people often think, is that it is some sort of get rich quick scheme and I have even seen other network marketers promote it that way.  So, what happens when someone signs up and doesn’t get rich quick, they quit and then tell everyone what a scam it is.

Lucky for me, I guess, I didn’t sign up to get rich quick.  The reason I signed up was,  I genuinely wanted to help others reach their health and fitness goals.  I still do, by the way!  😉 After becoming a coach, I was very fortunate enough to become a part of an AMAZING team, where I learned what was possible in this business.  But no one told me that it was going to be easy.  They were very upfront with the fact that I would have to work for it!  And so I have and continue to do so.

Why I love what I do

One of the things that I LOVE about being a part of Beachbody, is that one of their vital behaviors they expect out of their coaches is personal development.  Before becoming a coach, I don’t think I had ever read a personal development book, ever!  As I watched these coaches have success, they all attributed it to the fact that they worked on personal development daily.  So, I thought, well why not!?  I can’t even tell you how much that alone, has changed me!  My personal development journey started about a year ago and have lost count at the number of books, podcast, audiobooks, youtube videos on PD that I have gone through.  Every one teaching me something new from changing my mindset, to understanding different personalities, to learning how to be more productive in life, having a drive and desire to succeed, how to be a better mother, wife, friend, etc, etc.

I think one of the first and maybe biggest things that has changed me, is mindset.  Growing up, I  believed that I was average and that is what I would always be.  I was fine with it too.  I never excelled at anything but I also never put in a lot of extra effort.  What I have learned is that I am just as capable as anyone of being extraordinary. I have to stop limiting myself.

“If you put a small value on yourself, rest assured the rest of the world will not raise the price.”

Learning that it’s okay to want to be successful because I’m willing to work for it was a big step for me.  I’m not sitting back waiting for it to just fall in my lap.  Being CONSISTENT and PERSISTENT are key ingredients to success.  We are all capable of great things!  What separates the great from the average, is the little things that we do each day.

Having a VISION is also a key ingredient to success, one that I never had before!  I now have a clear vision of what I want my life to be like now and in the future.  Picture your life the way you want it to be, down to the smell in the air, and do something to make it happen!  And do something EVERYDAY that will get you closer to that reality!

So, can you really be successful as a Beachbody coach???

The answer is YES! But you must be willing to make changes!  A willingness to work for it is a required!   So is the desire to succeed while helping others do the same!

I absolutely LOVE what I do!! There is no better reward than watching and helping your friends and family reach goals and succeed in their lives.  And as a Beachbody coach, I’m so blessed to be a part of such an amazing team who always has each others’ backs and celebrates all of our successes.

I’m looking to grow my team!  If you think this may be something you would be interested in, then join me for a Sneak peek into coaching, webinar.  Sign up below!

Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip

Every family get together I am required to make my buffalo chicken dip.  If I don’t I could possibly be banished from the family.  😉  While it is super delicious, it is definitely NOT healthy!  So, when I started my healthier lifestyle, I decided I needed to find a healthier version of it, at least for me.  Now, I usually bring my old version and my healthy version for those of us trying to be healthy.  So, this is one of things I will be making for Thanksgiving day.  I figure we will have plenty of unhealthy foods to eat, I should at least have one that isn’t so bad.

This can also be 21 day fix approved!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

1/2 cup of cooked shredded chicken

1 cup of plain Greek yogurt

2 Tbsp of shredded Mexican cheese

Texas Pete buffalo sauce to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mix chicken, Greek yogurt, half of cheese and buffalo sauce together.  Pour into container.  Top with remaining cheese.  Bake until heated through, about 15-20 minutes.

Serve with celery sticks or crackers of your choice.

Now, it doesn’t get much easier than that!  And I promise, it is delicious!!

Sorry, I don’t have a picture of the finished product since I won’t be making it until Thursday and I never thought to take a picture of it before.  But here is a lovely picture of the ingredients.  🙂

Summer Corn, Avocado and Black Bean Salad

I LOVE summer salads of all kinds, especially when avocados are involved!!  I made this deliciousness the other day!  We actually ate it as a meal but it’s really more of a side dish or could even be a snack or appetizer.  You could serve it with chips, crackers or in a pita!

Here ya go!

Summer Corn, Avocado and Black Bean Salad

*1 3/4 cup thawed frozen or fresh sweet corn

*40 grape tomatoes, halved

*1 15 oz can Organic black beans

*2 Avocados, diced

*1 Red onion, finely diced

*1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

*2 TBSP Olive oil

*1 lemon, juiced

*1-2 tsp ground black pepper

*1/2 tsp Sea salt

*1-2 tsp Cumin

Prep all the veggies and add them to a large serving bowl.  Toss to combine.

In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the dressing ingredients and pour over the veggies. Toss gently to coat evenly and let rest about 10 minutes.

Store in the refrigerator and serve!  You can serve it by itself, with chips, or in a pita!
